We added new guides on object customization and a simulation of NASA’s DART mission. New guides and fly-by simulations added to Universe Sandbox in 2022 Since then, Conrad has been adding interface controls for object customization, fixing general usability issues, and helping to make our user interface easy to use on small screens in preparation for Universe Sandbox on mobile. Last year, Conrad joined the team as our User Interface Engineer. First, let’s reflect on some of our accomplishments from 2022. I have a 2080 GTX, i7 8700K and I have trouble running just the full solar system with all the moons at medium speeds.We’re excited about our plans for 2023, including adding more materials to planets as well as improvements for our physics simulation, but we’ll dive into our roadmap in an upcoming post. so it seems kinds insane to say youre going to create a full recreation. I mean, astronomers dont even have full recreations of the Milky Way yet, we dont even know exactly how many stars there are but its around 400 billion stars and who knows how many exoplanets. IDK what kind of PC you have but it must be a super computer if youre able to recreate a galaxy. That way youll have 400 stars in correct spots, and if they have exoplanets in real life, you can have them in game as well. You can do this for all the stars in those simulations. Just click on the sun so the picture comes up on the right of the screen, then go into the "actions" tab.itll say "add planets". Now they wont have planets but you can add them. They have the Sun and all closest stars in correct positions relative to us. one is called "Nearest 100 stars" and the other is "nearest 400 stars". Anyway, there are two simulations you might wanna check out (not in the workshop, just the in game menu) that will help you get started. Im curious how you know where each star goes in relation to the other? That is a complex task. Other than that, you cannot copy and paste systems.Īlso, anytime you place a planet, you can always do the same thing with its moons. There are tens of thousands of complete solar systems like this so whenever you go to add a star just see if that white circle is available. If you out your mouse over the white circle itll say "whole system"Ĭlick that and when you place the Sun, itll place the Sun with all the planets. When you want to add the Sun put your mouse on the Sun icon, but then look closely at the top right hand corner of that thumbnail of the sun. (sorry if this it the wrong place to post something like this, I usually find all my info online and I don't think I have ever used a form kinda thing like this to ask a question) Long story short, I could not get that "merge" thing to work but im not giving up hope yet because someone MUST know how I would go about this kind of file editing so if anyone does PLEASE TELL ME! thank you :)īasically im asking: How would you copy all the objects of one simulation into a different, already existing one. And when I came to that conclusion I tried to edit my simulation files to kind of "merge" my simulation with the pre-made solar system universe sandbox provides. This seems easier said than done because I don't think that right now it is possible to copy-paste things in universe sandbox. So what I want to do is copy that entire thing and paste is into my full milky way simulation (so I can avoid re-making the entire solar system). However I have ran into a problem while doing this because as im sure most of you know there is a "real time" default simulation of our solar system built in to universe sandbox. So im trying to make a full re-creation of the milky way (like with the solar system and the other stars).
